i just had the funniest experience in vr chat, i joined a random server and the one i joined had Japanese people so i waddled around in my goofy club penguin avatar that i have saved, after a while a guy walks up to me and clones my avatar so were both penguins then another guy shows up and clone my avatar
now keep in mind there only speaking Japanese i don’t know what they are saying, then another guy joins in, so i got a group of three penguin friends
we just waddle around and goof about, the one of them tries to talk to me, but not only do i not have a mic i also don’t speak Japanese, they figure out i don’t speak Japanese and start listing various places, they get the part of being European right, and after listing a lot of places they ask if im from the UK and when i nod they all just start cheering. after hanging out for a while one of them gets real close to me and whispers…
Okay so last post of the night on the topic, but yeah, I still have a bunch of posts saved in drafts about Nixon but they’re not really as…funny? I know part of my Brand™ on here is more like, posting/reblogging Nixon shitposts but I do actually have Deep Thoughts™ about him, too??? Sometimes I type up longer posts but then never actually publish them lmao. But would you guys…be interested that type of content? Like, stuff that’s more about image and legacy making, the role of the Nixon Library and how things are remembered, trends/things I’ve noticed in stuff written about nixon (kinda like?? historiography???), etc.?
this is from Hottest Heads of State’s round-up of strange search terms that led people to their website and i’ve been thinkin about this for days. the concept of some person out there (who is not me) actually typing this query into a search engine is both extremely bewildering and validating.
my personal fave wacky theories about the 18.5 minutes of watergate tape:
it was overwritten by someone listening to “Alice’s Restaurant,” a relatively popular song that also happened to be 18.5 minutes long (this is actually just kind of an already existing joke)
Nixon did personally erase that bit, but nothing of importance was lost – it was just some random section he overwrote accidentally bc he had no idea how to physically operate a tape recorder.
anyway I would just like to issue a correction to the canon of Nixon knowledge regarding this picture. some have asserted he’s eating ice cream. others have claimed that’s cottage cheese. in fact, it’s birthday cake. hopefully this clears up any ambiguity.
there’s this one book of collected essays on Nixon’s foreign policy in which the introductory chapter is seriously titled “the Adventurous Journey of Nixon in the World” and if that doesn’t sound like the title / secondary explanatory title of some anime i don’t know what does. like they might as well have called it “Nixon’s Bizarre Adventure”
